Medals
The image above is several of the medals/awards which were available to ex-PNGVR soldiers. The Australian medals are still available for those who qualify. The Papua New Guinean medals are no longer available to members. You may qualify for other medals if you served in Vietnam or through long service in the Defence Forces.
The Efficiency Medal or Efficiency Decoration may also be applicable if you have completed 12 years of continuous service prior to 14 February 1975 either in a non-commissioned role or commissioned officer respectively.
The medals are, left to right:
For service after 15 February 1975, the following medals can be claimed for continuous efficient service:
For service after 3 September 1945 the following medal can be claimed for continuous efficient service:

- PNG 10th Independence Anniversary Medal, 1975-85

- PNG 50th Anniversary Defence Force Medal, 1940-1990
For service after 15 February 1975, the following medals can be claimed for continuous efficient service:
- Reserve Force Medal. For 10 years continuous service as enlisted personnel,
- Reserve Force Decoration. For 10 years continuous service as an officer.
For service after 3 September 1945 the following medal can be claimed for continuous efficient service:
- Defence medal. For 4 years continuous efficient service
