New Guinea Volunteer Rifles & Papua New Guinea Volunteer Rifles Ex-members Association
Per angusta ad augusta (through trials to triumph)
Thank you for visiting the Web site of our Association. We can also be viewed on Facebook at

The PNGVR was an Australian CMF unit always commanded by a regular Army officer. There were 13 commanding officers from 1950 to 1973. PNGVR and NGVR were the only Australian volunteer Army Reserve units which were formed, served and disbanded overseas. They were at all times in the Australian Army Order of Battle, that is, they were front line units and were on continuous overseas service.
Recent changes....
1. Photos are constantly being added. Check them out and if you have any that you can add, send a copy to us.
2. The October issue of HTT added. Also the CDF speech on the Anniversary.
3. I regret there is an error in our HTT 123 - the date of our AGM is Saturday 24th October 2020 at 10 am followed by a free barbeque and not as written in the HTT.
4. Read the book Taim bilong Masta. The file is too large to put it on our web site however, you can download it here....
5. Read the story about how PNGVR was formed. An extremely interesting history. See "History"
Feedback on the web site is welcomed. Any copies of photos etc would be greatly appreciated.
